The Sketchbook Project

My first page was started by Dilyara. She wrote a friendly letter to me on the first page, and I loved her mentioning “pumpkin spicy latte”. Defiantly, I like to drink pumpkin spicy latte in fall and spend time with my friends at a café.

On the first page, I responded to her letter by my drawing that the autumn scenery was viewed over a garden wall.
The 2nd page captures memories of working with ceramics in the studio. I took a pottery wheel throwing class in summer, and I fondly recall the joy of designing and creating pieces in the ceramic studio.
The paper serving as the pink background is known as “hanji” (Traditional Korean handmade paper), and I drew inspiration from Goryeo celadon and Joseon white porcelain when creating the blows and flower vases.

For the 3rd and 4th pages, I represent my material exploration using soft pastels, oil pastels, and colored pencils, and each flower was colored by the different materials with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink. I made flowers were pop-up when the folded paper was opened, and the background was painted with watercolors.

Finally, on the last page, I left a friendly note along with drawings of a pumpkin spicy latte and a sweet dessert for the next recipient.
